Komodo
Klayton Komodo! A pitcher for the Beijing Dragons who hails from Komodo Island. One of my first fully fleshed out characters, he was definitely a journey, but helped me to better understand the character art pipeline.
2023. Responsible for all aspects. Maya, ZBrush, and Substance Painter.
To get started with the concept, I first drew out a 2D design and colored it. Then, I went through the process of building a maquette to find the major planes and using it to map out the edgeloops for my first low poly iteration.
After I had my base model I took him into Substance Painter for texturing. There was a lot of back and forth figuring out which details would work better modeled/sculpted or textured, but the decals eventually came together.
